Gujarat Titans’ COO Colonel Arvinder Singh On Pitch Debate (Source: @Chopsyturvey/x.com)
As IPL 2025 continues to captivate with thrilling cricket, the real buzz off the field is all about the pitch conditions. Several top franchises have voiced their frustration, arguing that home teams are not getting any advantage from their surfaces. Those remarks have already stirred up the controversy.
But the Gujarat Titans’ COO, Colonel Arvinder Singh, took a different approach from the rest. Dismissing the uproar, he stated that, according to the rules, franchises have no right to make such complaints. His stance adds another twist to the growing pitch debate in IPL 2025.
GT’s COO’s Big Remark On The Pitch Issue
In the ongoing IPL season, the pitch controversy is grabbing more attention than the cricket thrills. Chennai Super Kings’ coach Stephen Fleming, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan, and KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane have all voiced concerns, arguing that home teams are being denied their traditional advantage. The debate is heating up, adding more drama to the season.
But Gujarat Titans' COO Colonel Arvinder Singh expressed a different opinion on that. Emphasising the tournament’s regulations, he stated that the rules have been crystal clear from the start, leaving no room for franchises to raise such concerns.
“Look, the rules and regulations on this are very clear and not just from this season. They have been clear right from the very beginning. The rules of the game are very clear and they are common for everybody. No franchise has any right to say,’ I want this kind of a pitch. ’ That’s not something that the rules allow you to do,” he said.
What Does Home Advantage Mean To GT COO?
Walking on a different path than all other franchises, GT’s COO’s view of home advantage is a bit different. According to him, it comes from a team’s familiarity with the conditions rather than demanding a particular type of pitch.
“The home advantage has to stem from the fact that that is your home. You are supposed to know those conditions better than anybody else who’s coming, because that is where you play most of your games, where you practice. So from that perspective, if you are looking at a home advantage, well, why not? You deserve all the home advantage that you can take.” he said.
“To say that I need home advantage because I want this kind of a pitch. Sorry, I don’t think that cuts any ice with anybody,” he added.
Starting off the ongoing season on a different note, the Shubman Gill and Co. made a good start on their home ground compared to the other side. Despite a setback in the opening game, they bounced back with two consecutive wins, claiming the top spot on the table. As they are set to play the next clash against the Lucknow Super Giants, they will try hard to keep the domination alive.
