'No Chance Of Making Mistakes..,' Marcus Stoinis On India Ahead Of World Cup 2023

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis has dubbed hosts India and five-time champions Australia as the hot favourites to lift the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

The quadrennial event will take place across the length and breadth of India between October 05-November 19.

Hosts India will open their campaign with a blockbuster clash against former champions Australia at the Chepauk in Chennai on October 08.

Speaking to RevSportz, Stoinis underlined the importance of playing a high-profile fixture against a power-packed Indian team at the start of the tournament, stating that it could set the tone for his team if they manage to upstage the Rohit Sharma-led unit.

Stoinis also heaped high praise on the Indian team, admitting that no team can afford to take the Men in Blue lightly in their den.

"I do believe India and Australia are two of the best teams in the World Cup, and both have the potential to go all the way. Playing a very intense high-pressure game at the start of the World Cup can actually set the tournament up for you. When you play India, you know there is no chance of making mistakes. They will not let you make a comeback if you give them an opportunity," said Marcus Stoinis during an exclusive interview with RevSportz.

Australia and India locked horns in a three-match ODI series earlier this year, which the former won by a margin of 1-2.

The two sides' will again square off next month in a three-match rubber in order to finetune their squads ahead of the marquee event. The ODIs will be played in Mohali, Indore and Rajkot on September 22, 24 & 27 respectively.
