After years of consecutive setbacks, the Punjab Kings have stepped into the tournament under Ricky Ponting’s guidance. With a four-year contract, Ponting has been appointed as Punjab Kings’ head coach, and the franchise has given a flying start in this ongoing season.
While facing the Lucknow Super Giants, the Punjab Kings showcased their domination once again. Chasing 172, Nehal Wadhera played a crucial unbeaten knock of 43 off 25, guiding his team to victory. After the win, he couldn’t stop praising Ricky Ponting's coaching brilliance.
“He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever worked with. I’ve never heard any negative talk from him, and that’s the best thing about him. He talks positive, and when a coach gives you such positive remarks, that automatically boosts your confidence.” Wadhera said.
Prabhsimran Singh Applauds Ponting And Other Coaching Staff
Prabhsimran Singh has been a key figure for his franchise in recent years and was one of the two players retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. In the last match, he didn’t lose faith and delivered a fiery match-winning knock of 69 runs in just 34 deliveries. After the win, he lauded Ricky Ponting and the coaching staff for their unwavering support.
“They’re legends. Whenever they speak, it’s always positive. There’s no such thing as ‘if’ (in their thinking). They ask us to go with just one mindset, and that is of winning. They have asked us to back our game.” Singh said.
With the last victory, the Punjab Kings climbed up to the second position in the points table. After two consecutive wins, they are set to face Rajasthan Royals on April 5 aiming for another thrilling victory.
