On Thursday, June 6, Australia kickstarted their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on a positive note as the Mitchell Marsh-led side registered a 39-run win over Oman. 

Meanwhile, Australian legend Matthew Hayden, who emerged as the top-scorer in the inaugural T20 World Cup edition, heaped massive praise on MS Dhoni. 

Hayden, who shared the dressing room with Dhoni in CSK from 2008-10, spoke highly for the former CSK skipper and highlighted his humble nature. Hayden even went on to remark that MSD can captain the Australian side from the dressing room. 

Hayden stated that the 42-year-old keeps the team above himself. Boasting about Mahi's humble nature, the former Australia opener stated that Dhoni would even collect bags and throw balls to create an impact from the dressing room.

"Dhoni is exactly what I was saying before. He can easily sit in an Australian dressing room and easily captain it because he believes that he is not bigger than anyone else. He'll collect bags, he'll throw cricket balls. He's just a very humble individual. And he works hard at the team and not on promoting MS Dhoni," Hayden said in a conversation with Sports Vikatan.


"MS Dhoni's X-factor is that he doesn't boast about his achievements. He has the ability to bring people together without any ego or self-promotion. This quality sets him apart."

Hayden and MSD were part of the same dressing room for CSK when they won their maiden IPL title in 2010.
