The West Indies are traveling to India to play a 2-match Test series, starting from October 2. The first match is scheduled in Ahmedabad, and the players have arrived at the venue to begin their practice sessions. Ahead of the series, the pitches in India have been a constant topic of discussion.

Speaking about the home pitches, Shubman Gill has revealed how they will be in the upcoming series. Moreover, the series will come under the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, which means that the teams will have to be cautious about the results.

Shubman Gill comments on Indian pitches

Indian skipper Shubman Gill openly revealed that the pitches in the series are designed to suit both batters and bowlers. Moreover, he also mentioned that Indian pitches are mainly in favour of spin and reverse swing, and the opponents should be ready for that. The first match is scheduled for October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

"I can't really speak about what were the conversations before I came as captain but yes we would be looking to play on wickets that offer help to both the batsmen and to the bowlers. But having said that, I think any challenge for any team that comes to India, they know that the challenge is going to be spin and reverse swing. So keeping these challenges in mind, we would be looking to play on wickets that offer both to the batsmen and to the bowlers," said Shubman Gill at the press conference.

Ahmedabad likely to dish out green top

If reports are to be believed then the Ahmedabad curator is set to dish out a green top for the first Test match between India and West Indies. In their last home series against the Kiwis, India were blanked, 0-3, and perhaps the team management aren't taking any chances this time around.

If a green surface is prepared, India might sacrifice Kuldeep Yadav to bring in an extra pacer for support.
