AB de Villiers warned South African batters not to drop their guard and concentration for even a second against India's ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah during the forthcoming two-match Test series in the rainbow nation.
The Proteas legend, who faced Bumrah at the start of the great bowler's Test career during the thrilling 2018 series in South Africa, underlined the man's genius with the ball in hand and said he poses the most robust threat to the home team's batting line-up for the coming assignment in Centurion and Cape Town.
Bumrah, who picked up his maiden Test five-fer on South African shores during India's epic win in Johannesburg in January 2018, will be on his third Test trip to the country next month. The mighty right-arm quick has taken 26 wickets in his six outings in the nation at an average of 24.38.
De Villiers highlights Bumrah threat before SA vs IND
The 29-year-old is heading into the trip as the renowned all-format boss and boasts of 128 career Test wickets at just 21.99 apiece with eight five-wicket hauls under his belt, including a best of 6/27. The Gujarat stalwart wouldn't be short of determination and fire to finally help India register their maiden Test series triumph on Proteas turf.
For De Villiers, Bumrah fits perfectly to the conditions in South Africa as the reigning leader of the Indian attack with his tall height and ability to generate disconcerting bounce as well as lateral seam movement both ways.
"Bumrah is definitely the leader of the pack. He's a guy that keeps coming at you. Never stops. He's got all the skills. He kept us very busy in the last series we played in South Africa," De Villiers told India Today.
"He's the perfect bowler for those conditions, angling it into the stumps and then just moving it either way from there. He's a handful, and, he's gonna keep the South African batters busy. The whole of the Indian bowling attack is the biggest threat for South Africa," he added.
