Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg expressed optimism about Gujarat Titans' (GT) performance in the IPL 2024 final, despite the departure of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians (MI) in a mega trade. Hardik, released by MI before the 2022 mega auction, had successful seasons with GT, winning IPL 2022 and reaching the final the following year.

Shubman Gill is set to lead GT in the upcoming season, and Hogg, speaking on Instagram, reassured fans that, despite Hardik's exit, the team could reach the IPL 2024 final once again.

“Gujarat Titans fans you might be a bit sad that Hardik Pandya has returned to the Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024. Don’t feel betrayed. He took you to the finals twice as skipper and you won the title in 2022. A lot of money was involved in his trade. I feel you will be in the finals once again,” Brad Hogg said.

Highlighting Hardik's commitment, Hogg praised the all-rounder for leading GT despite his initial attachment to MI. He noted Hardik's journey from starting his career with MI and still achieving success with Gujarat, emphasizing the triumph in the first season.

"Hardik came to GT with a sad feeling as he wanted to continue to play for MI. Pandya started his career with Mumbai Indians. He still rose to the occasions and led Titans to glory in the first season,” he added.

Hogg suggested the possibility of Hardik taking on a leadership role with MI in the future, especially considering Rohit Sharma's advancing age.

While GT face a significant loss with Hardik's absence, Hogg emphasized their potential under new captain Shubman Gill. He acknowledged the team's T20 globetrotters and their ability to compensate for Pandya's departure, expressing confidence in their chances in the upcoming season.

Looking ahead, GT aims to maintain consistency under Gill's leadership, acknowledging the challenge of Pandya's absence but emphasizing the team's T20 talents. Hogg's positive outlook suggests that despite the setback, Gujarat Titans could still make a strong impact in the IPL 2024 season.
