'Keep Going For Another Couple Of Years': Mike Hussey's Take On MS Dhoni's IPL Future

MS Dhoni's IPL future has everyone guessing, especially since this might be his last season. All eyes are on the big game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024.

CSK's batting coach, Mike Hussey, gave some insight into what might be going on in Dhoni's mind. He mentioned that Dhoni keeps his plans secret.

"Your guess is as good as mine at this stage. He keeps his cards very, very close to his chest. We are hoping he does keep going. He is still batting so well. He does prepare well - he gets into the camp very early and hits a lot of balls. He has been in good touch all season really. I guess we just got to try to manage him from the body side of things. He had a knee surgery after the last season. So, he has been managing that from the initial stage of the tournament," he said.

Since bidding adieu to international cricket in 2020, Dhoni's appearances in the IPL have been eagerly awaited by fans. Following CSK's triumphant fifth title win last year, Dhoni extended his IPL stint, much to the delight of Chennai faithful.

Expressing his desire for Dhoni to grace the IPL for "another couple of years," Hussey acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the veteran's plans. 

"From a personal point of view, I hope he keeps going for another couple of years. But we will just have to wait and see. He is the only one who will make that call. And he likes to sort of build the drama a little bit as well. So, I wouldn't expect a decision anytime soon,” he further said. 

Despite undergoing knee surgery post the previous IPL season, Dhoni's commitment and prowess on the field remain undiminished. 

CSK are fighting for a spot in the playoffs, and Dhoni's a big part of that. But whether he stays or goes, Dhoni's keeping everyone guessing till the very end.
