India’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, staged a fiery comeback on Day 2 of the fifth Test against England at The Oval, reducing the hosts to 247 after being bowled out themselves for just 224 earlier in the day.

With the match finely balanced at the end of Day 2 and India batting, Siraj and Prasidh shared their thoughts on what went on behind the scenes in the dressing room and out on the field, with Siraj's special mention of Jassi bhai.

Siraj Shares Emotional Chat With Bumrah

Speaking candidly after the day's play, Siraj revealed how deeply he felt about Jasprit Bumrah’s absence and what he told India’s pace spearhead before the match.

“Jassi bhai ko bola tha ki bhaiya aap ja kyu rahe ho, mai 5 wicket leke ake kisko hug karunga? To unhone bola mai hu idhar hi, tu bass 5 wicket lele. (I told Jassi bhai, ‘Why are you leaving? If I take five wickets, who will I hug? He replied, ‘I’m still here, you just focus on getting five wickets.’)

The heartfelt exchange underlined the camaraderie in the Indian pace unit. Siraj eventually took four wickets at an economy rate of 5.27 and was instrumental in triggering England’s collapse after their solid start.

England Conditions Inspire Siraj

The Hyderabad-born pacer also acknowledged his love for bowling in English conditions and explained the advantage of playing in England.

“England mei har kisiko khelna pasand hai kyuki idhar zyada swing aur zyada helpful rehta hai fast bowlers ke liye. (Everyone enjoys playing in England because there’s more swing here, and it helps fast bowlers a lot.)

Siraj emphasized the thrill of bouncing back after a tough session, especially as a fast bowler. “After such a poor session, we made such a strong comeback. As fast bowlers, pulling that off feels really satisfying,” Siraj added.

Prasidh Reveals Team's Mental Reset

Prasidh Krishna, who also picked up four wickets, highlighted the importance of unity in the team during the break after England’s initial dominance.

“The three of us had a chat in the break. We said, you know, whatever happened has happened, we know what we have to be doing and make sure we back each other every single time and bring people on to the same path as the plan is going,” Krishna said after the match.

The chat between Siraj, Krishna, and Akash Deep seemed to have made a visible difference, as the trio came back with fire and discipline to dismantle England’s middle and lower order.

Meanwhile, on a day where 15 wickets fell, India clawed back into the contest, reducing England's lead to just 23 runs before ending Day 2 at 75/2, with Jaiswal unbeaten on 51. With a 52-run lead in hand and momentum with them, the Indian team now looks to press forward in this decisive final Test.
