Ahead of the Rajkot Test between India and England, BCCI secretary Jay Shah addressed the curious case of Virat Kohli's mysterious absence from international cricket. Shah backed Kohli and said that the latter earned his right to take a personal leave after 15 years of dedicated service towards Indian cricket.

Indian cricketing icon and an absolute sporting legend, Virat Kohli, has been missing in action for over a month due to some unavoidable personal reasons. He initially pulled out from the first two Tests against England and was later ruled out from the entire series, as confirmed by BCCI.

In an official statement, BCCI revealed that Virat Kohli chose to extend his leave and won't be available for selection for the rest of the ongoing series. Also, the board requested fans to respect his privacy and showcase unwavering support for the batter.

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah was in Rajkot for an event ahead of the third Test and touched on the hot topic. Shah affirmed that Virat Kohli is not the kind of a player who would miss out on national duties without any viable reason. He has been playing non-stop for the past 15 years without any hesitation or complaints.

Thus, Shah believes that if a player asks for personal leave once in 15 years, he has earned that right. Not only that, Shah reckoned that the board must respect and trust its players, and that's exactly what they plan to do in Kohli's case.

Meanwhile, as per fresh rumors, Virat Kohli could likely make a comeback on the field during the upcoming IPL season. With the T20 World Cup around the corner, it's perennial for the batter to step onto the field as early as possible to kick off the preparations on time. His presence has always been vital in India's success, and even after 15 years, that key factor hasn't changed.
