GT's Bowling Woes Are Raising Concerns [Source: @iplt20.com]
After a dazzling performance in the IPL 2025, the Gujarat Titans were the first team to qualify for the playoffs. But the rhythm cut as the Shubman Gill-led side faced two consecutive defeats in their last two games.
After two defeats, their way to the top 2 position has become complicated. Former Aussie cricketer Tom Moody pointed out that their bowling woes have hit at the worst possible moment.
A Wrong Timing For The Titans
Since the beginning of the tournament, the Gujarat Titans have shone in their best form. After winning their clash against the Delhi Capitals, they secured their playoff berth. But the rhythm ended after that. After consecutive losses to Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings, they have now thrown a wrench in their plans of finishing in the top two.
In both matches, GT’s bowling woes hit them hard. Reflecting on their sudden slump on ESPN, former Aussie star Tom Moody said this was the time their attack should’ve been at its strongest, but instead, the bowlers lost form when it needed to be perfect.
“It is a concern that a number of their bowlers are losing form at the wrong time. Coming into the finals, one area of your game you want to be absolutely confident with is your bowling attack, and everyone not looking over their shoulder but looking to take the responsibility themselves,” Moody said.
Heartfelt Praises For Sai Kishore
Amid GT’s recent stumble, Sai Kishore has been a shining light in their bowling attack. Alongside Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj, he’s kept the attack strong, grabbing a wicket in each of the last two defeats. Moody praised Sai Kishore’s consistent performances during tough times.
“And I look at their attack and really there's only one bowler that's bowling well, and the rest are trying to find form. And that's probably being a little bit harsh on Sai Kishore because I think he's been quite consistent, but it's nearly like his bowling has been swept away along with many other bowlers purely because they haven't been able to build the most important thing, and that's those partnerships with the ball,” he added.
Gujarat Titans ended the group stage with an 83-run defeat against the Chennai Super Kings. Despite the defeat, they are still at the top spot of the points table. Now, all eyes are on the upcoming clash that will ultimately seal their fate in the race for a top-two finish.
