The upcoming five-match Test series against England has come as a dream come true moment for Tamil Nadu superstar Sai Sudharsan. His stellar IPL season has finally paved the way for his well-deserved maiden Test call-up.

As the batter is set for the biggest moment of his career, former Tamil Nadu coach Sulakshan Kulkarni issues a word of caution, stressing the need to sharpen his technique for the longest format.

Kulkarni’s Stresses Over Sudharsan’s Struggle On Seaming Track

Since the last year’s IPL, Sai Sudharsan’s form and consistency earned praises and continuing it even in the ongoing edition. Leading the Orange Cap race, he continues to dazzle, proving he's not just a one-season wonder. After those exceptional performances, he earned his maiden Test call up for the upcoming Test series against England.

Just not in the IPL, he has impressive record in the first class cricket. In 29 matches, he scored 1957 runs, along with 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries. But as he nears his Test debut, former Tamil Nadu coach Sulakshan Kulkarni voices concern, urging him to tighten his technique against the moving ball.

“His domestic record is not great. When I was the coach, I saw him play on a seaming track in at least two matches. And he didn’t play well there. His technique against the moving ball needs to improve,” Kulkarni said.

Reflecting On Sudharsan’s Technical Flaws

As the ongoing series will be his maiden Test series for Team India, Sai Sudharsan already shares a connection with English conditions because of his County stint. As he gears up for the big stage, former coach Sulakshan Kulkarni highlighted a few technical flaws and urged him to fine-tune his game before the series begins.

“He has a tendency of playing away from the body while the secret of success in England is to play late and play the ball right under your nose. He has to curb some of his strokes and should play straight and close to the body. He has to work to get the technique right before the tour,” he added.

Before the series starts from June 20, Sai Sudharsan will face the England Lions donning the India A jersey on June 6. Standing on the brink of a golden chapter in his career, fans eagerly await a memorable debut from the rising star.
