'They Will Win Us The Game', Pakistani Legend's Bold Claim Shakes India Ahead Of 2023 World Cup

Regarded as the mother of all battles, India versus Pakistan is the game every cricket fan looks forward to watching. Although Pakistan have an upper hand in head-to-head stats over their arch-rivals, they are yet to defeat India in an ODI World Cup fixture. However, as the stage gets set for yet another Indo-Pak classic in the 2023 World Cup, legendary seamer Waqar Younis has explained why Pakistan will start as the favourites to win this match. 

Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, the former Pakistan skipper stressed that the current players handle pressure better than their predecessors, who used to choke against India in the high-octane World Cup games. 

Therefore, as Younis claimed, players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan could emerge as certain threats to India and help Pakistan win the much-awaited World Cup face-off.


'Players these days are handling the pressure better'- Waqar Younis

"Whenever you'll play them, especially if it is Pakistan and India, the pressure would be immense and tripled. Pressure is always high, but maybe in our times, it was comparatively lesser because we used to play lots of cricket in my early days. But then again, in World Cup, we used to choke against India. Nonetheless, as I said, players these days are handling the pressure definitely better. These match-winners, which I mentioned earlier, they'll win us the game," Younis said, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan. 

The Indo-Pak encounter, earlier scheduled on October 15, will likely be preponed. The ICC and BCCI will soon come up with a revised schedule for the showpiece event.
