IND vs AUS | 'Prasidh Krishna Needs To Take A Leaf...': Zaheer Khan

Indian seam-bowling legend, Zaheer Khan wore a sympathetic outlook towards struggling right-arm seamer Prasidh Krishna as he continues to face the flak for a disastrous 20th over in the third India versus Australia T20I played on Tuesday (November 28) in Guwahati.

Defending 21 off 6, the Karnataka pacer was smashed to all parts by the extravagant Aussie duo of Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade. Team India missed a great chance to close out the series with an unassailable lead in their favour and two matches to spare.

Prasidh has fallen under scrutiny for his listless bowling in the final over where the young quick had absolutely no safe response to the wrath unleashed on him by the Maxwell-Wade pairing. The speedster's death-bowling woes were brutally exposed, in that he kept erring too short and failed to execute the yorkers and the slower-ball variations when needed.

For Zaheer, the Rajasthan Royals pacer could've taken a leaf out of fellow young quick Mukesh Kumar's book when it comes to end-overs skillset by entrusting his yorkers and must now "keep the belief very strong" whenever he next turns up for India.

Zaheer Speaks On Prasidh's End-Overs Struggles

Speaking on Cricbuzz, the former India left-arm pacer reckoned faith in his own abilities and learning from teammates will be key to the bowler's revival from what has been a disappointing outing and overall series performance for Prasidh.

"It's important that you keep the belief very strong," Zaheer said. "This format demands you to be thick-skinned. You're going to have the tough days. Like I said, it's important you control your thinking and your thought process."

"Skill-wise, not much is going to change. But it's important for him to revisit what was the thought process with which he bowled in the last match and went for runs. So he needs to revisit that and be clear. It's something I gave a lot of emphasis (in my playing days) and it helped immensely with the execution."

"It also highlights the fact that Mukesh was doing a superb job of controlling things, delivering those yorkers. So maybe (for Prasidh) just take a leaf out of his book, and bowl those yorkers, you're spending together and so have conversations about it," he added.

Notably, Mukesh, who missed the third T20I due to his marriage, has been the pick of the Indian bowlers, especially at the death, in the series where Prasidh has sadly been the worst in terms of control.

Executing his yorkers to perfection in the end-overs phase, the Bengal seamer played the first two matches with an economy rate of nine in a very high-scoring series. The corresponding number for Prasidh stood at a woeful 13.25.
