Australia star all-rounder Cameron Green has cleared the air about why he was listed as a “pure batter” for the IPL 2026 auction, even though he is well known as an all-rounder. According to Green, the reason is very simple; it was just a paperwork mistake, not a change in his role or a concern about his fitness.

Green confirmed that he is fully fit and will be available to bowl in IPL 2026. Notably, the mix-up happened partly due to Green’s recent injury history. He missed the IPL 2025 season after undergoing back surgery and returned to international cricket as a specialist batter earlier this year.

At that time, he was not bowling. However, over the past few months, his workload has increased steadily, and he has now been fully cleared to bowl again. Green has already been bowling in the ongoing Ashes series, proving that he is back to being a complete all-rounder.

Speaking before Australia’s training session in Adelaide, Green assured fans and IPL teams that there are no restrictions on his bowling.

"I'll be good to bowl," Green said.

"I don't know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn't mean to say 'batter'. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it's all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end," he said.

For the IPL 2026 auction, which begins on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, Green has set his base price at the highest leve, ₹2 crore. Given his ability to contribute with both bat and ball, he is expected to attract strong interest from multiple franchises and could spark an early bidding war.

Green said he plans to watch the auction with fellow players and described it as exciting and unpredictable.

"I'm sure I will be [watching], with a few other guys. They're always good fun to watch. It's a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it's always been fun to watch," the all-rounder said.

At 26, Green already has solid IPL experience. He played for Mumbai Indians in 2023, scoring 452 runs at an impressive average of over 50, including a brilliant century. In the following season, he turned out for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scoring 255 runs and taking 16 wickets.
