The wait is almost over as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction is set to take place on Tuesday, December 16. More than 350 players have been shortlisted to be auctioned in the marquee event. While some IPL franchises have a settled core and hardly need any investments, others need a plethora of changes before the next season.

One such team that needs an overhaul is the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Pat Cummins-led side reached the finale in 2024, but they failed to reach the knockouts last season. The team has two quality Australians in Cummins and Travis Head, and perhaps, they need a couple of more Aussies to win another IPL title.

Here are 3 registered Australian players the Orange Army can target in the IPL 2026 mini auction.

1) Cameron Green

• There are plenty of teams that will go after Cameron Green, and one of them is the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army has an Aussie connection with Head in the side, and Cummins, who has backed Green in the Australian team.
•  What does SRH need in the auction? The power-packed batting unit certainly needs a middle-order player who can play explosively and Green fits the bill perfectly.

• In just 21 matches for Australia, Green has carved a name for himself and has a blistering strike rate of 160 in the format.
• For the Aussies, he plays at number 4, or 5, and with Heinrich Klaasen likely to bat at 4, the side needs a solid number 5, and Green could be the answer to their problems.
• Moreover, if needed, he can also chip in with the ball, and SRH can do with a helping hand as the team lacked a quality all-rounder last season.

2) Matt Short

A power-packed all-rounder from Australia, Matt Short is known for his aggressive batting in the middle-order and he is someone who can take the game away in the blink of an eye.

SRH have embodied the philosophy of having every batter playing in an aggressive way, and just like Green, Short could do the same job with ease, and the stats tell the story.

3) Ben Dwarshius

Apart from the middle-order woes, SRH’s biggest problem is the lack of a quality new-ball bowler. Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat, and Harshal Patel, all of them are either middle-overs or death-overs specialists, and hence, the team needs someone who can take wickets at the top, and Ben Dwarshius could be a brilliant budget buy.

• 218 wickets in 174 matches, with an economy of 8.34 define his T20 journey so far. Quality left-arm pacers are a rare commodity and Dwarshius’ arrival will help Cummins as his new-ball bowling woes will be solved and the skipper could then concentrate on other areas.
• Moreover, he is quick and can swing the ball both ways as Dwarshius can trouble the best in the business in the IPL, and could be a budget buy for them.
