'If We Grabbed Our Chances...': Disappointed Shaheen Afridi Reflects On NZ vs PAK 4th T20I Loss

In a tale of missed opportunities and shattered hopes, Pakistan's cricket captain Shaheen Afridi expressed disappointment after his team's loss against New Zealand. Despite Mohammad Rizwan's valiant 90 runs and a commendable 158-5 total, Pakistan couldn't seize the crucial moments in the middle overs.

Reflecting on the game, Afridi remarked:

"I think the way Rizwan gave us the start, it was very good, unfortunately, we couldn't grab the opportunity in the middle overs. I try to take wickets in the first over; I feel 170 was a good total on this pitch, if we grabbed our chances, we could have won this game."

Pakistan's batting innings saw early setbacks with Saim Ayub and Babar Azam falling cheaply to Matt Henry and Adam Milne, respectively. Lockie Ferguson's two-wicket haul further dented their progress. However, Rizwan's resilient 90 and Mohammad Nawaz's explosive cameo pushed the total to 158-5.

In the bowling department, Shaheen Afridi's initial brilliance, removing both New Zealand openers and Will Young, gave Pakistan a glimmer of hope. Yet, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips dominated, orchestrating a stunning 139-run partnership that led New Zealand to a convincing victory with seven wickets in hand and nearly two overs to spare.

As Pakistan grapples with the sting of missed opportunities, the focus shifts to learning from the defeat and honing their skills for future encounters.
