Narendra Modi Stadium has witnessed history. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have registered their first ever IPL title in 18 years. In an edge of the seat thriller, RCB have defeated the PBKS and brought tears of joy in in the eyes of their fans.

Virat Kohli Set The Tone For RCB's Fighting Total

The Punjab Kings won the toss ahead of the game and put the Royal Challengers to bat. Phil Salt gave a blazing start to the team and set the tone for them. However, soon he departed after scoring 16 runs off 9 deliveries. 

After the fall of the first wicket, Virat Kohli understood the nature of the track and adapted to the conditions. He scored 43 runs off 35 deliveries and set the stage for the big hitters lower down the order. 

Backed by the platform set by Kohli, the lower order batters like Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma and Romario Shepherd took on the PBKS bowling and took the score to 190 at the end of their 20 overs. 

Krunal Pandya Tightens The Screws On PBKS Progress

In the chase, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave a solid start to the PBKS. However, even after a good start, RCB bowlers did a brilliant job and slowed down the progress of the innings. The pressure kept on mounting and soon the partnership broke. 

After the fall of the first wicket, the Punjab Kings struggled to find the rhythm required chase down the target on a big occasion. The RCB bowlers, especially Krunal Pandya kept holding their line and length and put the pressure on the PBKS batters gradually putting them out of the game. 

Shashank Singh fought the battle, but with the excellence and brilliance of the RCB bowlers the task went out of their hands with each passing delivery. At the end, the Punjab Kings could manage only 184 runs at the end of their 20 overs and lost the game by six runs. With that the Royal Challengers their won their first ever IPL trophy.

History Created At The Narendra Modi Stadium

The emotions of the trophy was visible in the eyes of even Virat Kohli. He has played 18 years for RCB and this was his ever IPL trophy. The Narendra Modi Stadium witnessed the history being created of RCB winning the trophy for the first time in 18 years. 

Notably, Royal Challengers Bengaluru become the eighth team to win the title. The date 3rd June will go down in their history as the most important day. On the other, the wait for Punjab Kings stretches further. They need to wait even more to win their maiden title.
