Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne recently discussed the technical adjustments he made to his batting technique following his impressive second ODI century on September 9th.

Labuschagne entered the crease with Australia at 109/2. He delivered a spectacular 124 off 99 balls during the second game of the five-match ODI series against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

Notably, he achieved his century in just 80 balls, marking his fastest century in the 50-over format. His performance was made all the more special as he batted in front of his family.

This exceptional display came on the heels of his unbeaten 80 in the first ODI of the series. Labuschagne's batting was characterized by his positive approach, aggressive shot-making, and a century sealed with a boundary.

Labuschagne attributed his success to a few minor technical adjustments he introduced, particularly regarding his stance. He mentioned that he has modified his stance to be slightly more open, and the results have been immediately gratifying.

"I have made a few slight technical changes after I started in England, I am a bit open in my stance now. It’s nice that it has started so well."

Australia's strong start in the match was initiated by Travis Head, who reached a half-century in just 25 balls. Labuschagne then combined with David Warner to carry forward the momentum, with both players reaching individual centuries.

Labuschagne also acknowledged his poor form in ODIs before this series which led to his omission from the World cup squad and added that he was not surprised.

"I have been really disappointed with how I've played my one-day cricket, the last 10 to 12 games I felt like I haven't shown the intensity and the courage that I would have liked," Labuschagne said.

"I wasn't too shocked when I was dropped, I said that to the selectors (that) 'I understand, I haven't made runs'."

This outstanding performance by Labuschagne followed his match-winning 80 not out in the first ODI, where he wasn't initially expected to play but entered as a concussion substitute during their pursuit of 223. These performances have served as a reminder to Australian selectors that he is good enough to be part of Australia's World Cup squad.
