South Africa captain, Temba Bavuma, clarified that he was not asleep during the 2023 World Cup Captains Meet in Ahmedabad earlier today (October 4). He rather blamed the camera angle for the photo which has now gone viral on social media.

Just one day before the kick-off of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad on October 5, a press conference was held on Wednesday, October 4, in which all 10 participating team captains came together to address the media and their queries.

During the Captains Meet, a photo of Bavuma sleeping went viral on social media platforms. However, the South African captain quickly clarified that he was not actually sleeping; rather, it was the camera angle that made him appear as if he were.

Here’s what Temba Bavuma wrote in reply to The Barmy Army, who shared a photo of him sleeping:

"I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping.”

Bavuma will be leading South Africa in the ICC ODI World Cup for the first time this year. The Proteas will kick off their 2023 World Cup campaign against former champions Sri Lanka on Saturday, October 7 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
