Ahead of 'The Ashes 2023', which begins on Friday, Australian batter Steven Smith has revealed his favourite career Test. Smith, who has played 97 red-ball matches for Australia, has called the 2019 Edgbaston Test during Ashes his favourite in his 13-year-long career.

Smith, who was playing his first Test after his ball-tampering ban, ended up scoring centuries in both innings (144 and 142) at Edgbaston, which ended in Australia winning the match by 251 runs.

In the 2019 Ashes, Smith amassed 774 runs, including three hundred and as many fifties, that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Here's what Smith said

"I think that Test match is probably my favourite out of my career so far, given the circumstances and the importance of a first Ashes Test, particularly away from home. I've had a couple of good ones. It would be nice to repeat it again but I'm just going to go out there and go through my routines and do what I need to do, and hopefully, I can score some runs and help the team out."

"Coming back here I've got some wonderful memories and some things I can draw from."

The 34-year-old registered his 31st Test century last week in WTC Final 2023 against India, which Australia won by 209 runs, cementing his place as ICC's No. 2 Ranked Test batter behind Marcus Labuschagne and ahead of Travis Head.
