MS Dhoni has hinted of his participation in next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter played the entirety of IPL 2025 for the CSK, and even led the team in the second half of the tournament in the absence of regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Several fans speculated IPL 2025 to be Dhoni’s final appearance in competitive cricket. Clearing the air, the 44-year-old jokingly claimed that he might well play the IPL for the next five years.

“Doc Didn’t Gave Clearance…” Jokes MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni was recently asked to drop a hint about his IPL future for the CSK franchise. The legendary Indian cricketer, at the launch of Maxvision Eye Super Speciality hospital in Chennai, jokingly remarked that he just got the clearance of his doctor for eyesight and could play for five more seasons.

However, Dhoni laughingly added that he is yet to receive a similar clearance for his body. He said:

“I just got a tick mark for the next five years I can play cricket. But the only catch is Doc only gave a clearance for eyesight. Body, He didn’t gave a clearance for the body. But I cannot play cricket only with my eyes.”

MS Dhoni played all 14 matches for the CSK franchise in this year’s IPL 2025 season. The right-handed batter aggregated 196 runs in the tournament from 13 innings at a blistering batting strike rate of 135.17.

Aged 44, it remains to be seen if the former Indian captain and legendary stumper will indeed be extending his IPL career by another season.
