The BCCI recently announced India's Asian Games squad, set to compete in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China, from September 23 to October 8.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been given the responsibility of captaining the Indian men's cricket team. Following the announcement, former opener Aakash Chopra expressed his thoughts on his YouTube channel.

Among the 15-member Indian squad selected for the continental event, Arshdeep is one of the four seamers included. Chopra seemed surprised that the left-arm seamer is in the Asian Games squad. He stated that there's a huge upside to Arshdeep and he can play all three formats.

Regarding Arshdeep, Aakash Chopra said:

"I am surprised Arshdeep Singh's name is in this team. I am surprised because they are not considering him for ODIs at all. You didn't consider him for the T20Is as well in the West Indies."

He further added:"Now you are not considering him for the Asia Cup and are already keeping him out of the World Cup list. What has happened? When I see Arshdeep Singh, it seems like there is a huge upside, he is a player for the long haul and can play all three formats, at least both white-ball formats, but they have not kept him currently."

Arshdeep has played in 3 ODIs for India, but unfortunately, he has been unable to take any wickets and has conceded an average of 6.75 runs per over. However, his performance in T20Is tells a different story.

The Punjab Kings seamer has impressively accounted for 41 dismissals in 26 matches, showcasing his prowess in the shortest format of the game. As of now, it seems that he is primarily considered for India's plans in T20 cricket.

Additionally, the veteran player was surprised by the inclusion of Mukesh Kumar and the entry of Shivam Mavi into the Asian Games squad.
