Aakash Chopra Gives His Verdict On Selection Of Shivam Dube's For T20 World Cup 2024

As the T20 World Cup 2024 draws closer, it is good news for the Indian Team management as Chennai Super King's standout performer this Indian Premier League season (IPL 2024) Shivam Dube is in magnificent form scoring 176 runs in 5 matches at an impressive strike rate of 160.00.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, he expressed his opinion that Shivam Dube deserves a place in the World Cup squad. He also added to this that CSK star hitter Dube can consistently his sixes even on sluggish and challenging pitches where other players fail to perform well. 

"I am convinced that it will be impossible for you not to take him for the World Cup. How will you not take him? Just consider the way he is batting. A lot of people say that there is role definition and he has been given freedom. Whoever wants can have freedom and show if they can hit sixes so consistently,” said Chopra. 

He also praised Dube on his adaptability and skill to face spinners and fast bowlers making him an important asset for CSK. 

Aakash Chopra emphasised that Shivam Dube should be included in the upcoming T20 World Cup and recently in the Chennai Vs Kolkata clash he played a crucial and explosive knock of 28 runs in 18 balls. 

“Everyone who played in this match, including Andre Russell, felt it was very difficult to hit sixes on this pitch, and that it was a very big ground. It was nothing like that for Shivam Dube. Dube picked the right balls and hit them into the stands. He even hits fast bowlers into the stands. He is forcing the selectors to take him for the World Cup,” Aakash added.

Chennai Super Kings will play its next fixture against Mumbai Indians on April 14, 2024, at Wankhede Stadium.
