'How Much Will Kohli Do Alone': Gavaskar Lambasts Rest Of RCB Batters After Defeat To KKR

Sunil Gavaskar slammed Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) inconsistent and underperforming batting unit following the defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024 on Friday (March 29), stating the rest of the men are putting enormous pressure on legend Virat Kohli.

The former India captain and batting great slammed RCB's disappointing other-end as the popular franchise failed to post a winning score in the first half despite Kohli smashing an unbeaten 83 off 59 deliveries, including 4 fours and 4 sixes.

With wickets falling regularly, Kohli played in his true elements and guided RCB through the innings at his end. The likes of Cameron Green (33) and Glenn Maxwell (28) got starts in the middle-order, but neither carried on to post a substantial individual score, resulting in a heavy load on the former skipper's shoulders and an under-par score of 182/6 on a flat M Chinnaswamy track that KKR chased down.

Gavaskar Slams RCB's Other End After Kohli's Lone Act

"You tell me how much Kohli will do alone - someone should accompany him, If someone had supported him today, he would definitely have scored 120 instead of 83, so this is team sport not a single man game, he didn't get any support today," Gavaskar told Star Sports.

End-overs powerhitter Dinesh Karthik with his eight-ball 20 was the only other batter to play his role to perfection as Kohli's standalone act went to vain in RCB's second defeat of the season in three matches.

As Karthik had done in the win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) when another masterclass innings of 77 from Kohli set-up RCB's chase to overhaul opposition's 176/6 on a two-paced surface.

The rest of RCB's powerpacked unit will have to make amends soon if the three-time finalists are to rejuvenate themselves and comeback to the winning ways in the next league stage encounter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday (April 2).
