Kane Williamson Reflects on his desire to evolve as a Master Batsman

Since his noteworthy debut performance, Kane Williamson has become an integral part of the New Zealand Test team. With his milestone game against Australia approaching, Williamson recalled walking to bat on the field and being surrounded by veteran Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Kane Williamson said,

"I remember walking out and looking around the field and seeing all my heroes. I used to love playing backyard cricket as a youngster, and all those guys were in that team that I would try and select. It was Tendulkar and Laxman and Dravid, and it was kind of like, 'How am I here? I'd better start watching the ball and try and compete.”

The fan favourite Williamson also highlighted that ever since he had begun to gain valuable experiences in the sport, he has tried to improve his game by becoming a better player. Kane further added,

"It was quite surreal. I remember being quite eager to try and get into the opposition's dressing room and chat to some of those guys if I could. Then a few grey hairs later and [after] a number of different experiences over that time, there has not been many days - probably any - where I have not tried to improve and get better as a player.”

Kane Williamson will play his 100th Test against Australia in the last match of the series from 8th March at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Kane could not manage an impactful knock against Australia in the first game and could score only 9 runs after getting dismissed for a duck in the first innings.

It will be interesting to see how Kane Williamson will go about his business against the Aussies to make his 100th Test match memorable.
