Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar believes the opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal will establish himself in the Test team following India’s series against England.

The upcoming five-match Test series between India and England, led by Ben Stokes, kicks off on January 25 in Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma will take charge as the captain for India.

India didn't have the best run in the recent series against South Africa, but they are gearing up to bring their A-game against England. Notably, this series is also a part of the World Test Championship 2023-25.

India enters this series as the second-ranked team in the latest ICC men's Test rankings, with England positioned in the third spot. Meanwhile, both teams suffered big blows ahead of the series.

While Virat Kohli has withdrawn from the first two Tests, English batting sensation Harry Brook has pulled out of the entire series, citing personal reasons.

Speaking to Star Sports ahead of the first Test, Gavaskar said Jaiswal would settle easily in home conditions and cement his place as India's regular opener in the Test squad after this series.

'Jaiswal will easily settle in home conditions,' reckons Gavaskar

“Yashasvi Jaiswal will easily settle in home conditions. He’s also a left-hander. I think he’ll establish himself completely in the Indian Test team after this series," Gavaskar stated.

Notably, Jaiswal has scored 316 runs in four Test matches he has played so far, at an average of 45.14. He also has a half-century and one century to his name.
