Dean Elgar, the retired South African cricketer, has disclosed a startling incident involving Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. Speaking on the Banter with The Boys podcast, Elgar alleged that Kohli spat at him during his maiden tour of India. Recounting their first encounter, Elgar revealed that he even threatened to use his bat against Kohli.

"I came into bat and... Kohli spat at me. I said to him if you do that, I’ll **** you with this bat," Elgar disclosed on Banter with The Boys podcast.

Elgar clarified that Kohli understood the gravity of his words, attributing it to their shared experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where Kohli had AB de Villiers as his teammate.

"Yes, he did because de Villiers was his teammate at RCB, so he understood. And I said if you do that, I’ll **** on this field, I’ll absolutely knock you out," Elgar recounted.

Elgar went on to describe how Kohli responded with expletives, illustrating the tense exchange between the players. However, he noted the importance of caution when playing in India.

Dean Elgar later disclosed that it was AB de Villiers who intervened and confronted Kohli about the incident during the Test match. Interestingly, Kohli reached out to Elgar years later during India's tour of South Africa to apologize for his actions, a gesture that Elgar accepted graciously.

Reflecting on his retirement, Elgar shared a heartwarming moment with Kohli during his farewell Test match in Cape Town, where the two players embraced, highlighting the camaraderie and respect between them.
