Former South African cricketer AB De Villiers expressed his admiration for Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer. The 28-year-old cricketer, known for his composed batting style, made a remarkable comeback after battling recurring back injuries.

Iyer, India's preferred No.4 batter for the World Cup, had faced significant setbacks due to his persistent back problems. He had missed matches earlier this year, underwent surgery, and returned for the Asia Cup, only to suffer a reccurrence of the injury after just two games.

However, in the second ODI against Australia, the stylish Mumbaikar showcased his determination and class. Promoted up the order, he played a stellar innings, scoring 105 runs off 90 balls, leading India to a famous series win. His lofted cover drive demonstrated his aggressive intent and composure under pressure.

De Villiers expressed his admiration for Iyer's batting prowess on his YouTube channel, comparing him with swashbuckling Indian opener Shubman Gill.

Here's what he said

"I love watching Shreyas Iyer bat. I love what he does in the middle, always composed, very calm, and reminds me of Shubman Gill."

Regarding the Indian cricket team, the Men in Blue are scheduled to play a warm-up World Cup match against the Netherlands on October 3rd in Thiruvananthapuram.
