Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri shared an amusing take on the personality of Mohammed Siraj during commentary on Day 1 of the third Test match between India and hosts England at the iconic Lord’s. Shortly after Siraj charged straight towards England’s Ollie Pope, Michael Atherton asked Shastri if the Indian paceman was a “prankster” in nature or has a quite personality.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the Indian cricketer-turned-commentator called Siraj a “joker”, especially inside the dressing room, albeit with a twist.

Shastri Says Siraj And Rishabh Pant Light Up Dressing Room

At one point of Day 1 of the third Test match between India and England at Lord’s, England commentator Michael Atherton curiously asked Ravi Shastri to describe the personality of fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. While speaking on live television and as quoted by the Times of India, Shastri described Siraj a “joker”, but only because others keep “poking fun at him”. He said:

“Oh, he’s a joker. And he’s not the one poking fun, someone else keeps poking fun at him. Or riling him up. And he falls for it.”

Ravi Shastri added that both Mohammed Siraj and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant tend to light up the dressing room with their presence. Moreover, the former Indian coach added that Siraj once gave a hilarious response to his teammates who were mocking his DSP rank. He added:

“He and Rishabh Pant are like that. Especially when he was elevated to the Deputy Superintendent of Police. There was a chuckle around that dressing room. Siraj had to say “Ok, wait till you come to Hyderabad, I will sort you out.”

Mohammed Siraj In England Test Series

Mohammed Siraj picked up seven wickets in the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham to star in India’s big 336-run win against England. The speedster has so far collected nine wickets in this series from four innings.

Siraj is currently helming India’s pace attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep in the third Test at Lord’s.
