Oman is all set to roll out the desert carpet as it plays host to the high-stakes 2025 Men’s T20 World Cup Asia-EAP Regional Final. The nine-team showdown will decide the final three entrants for the 2026 T20 World Cup, sealing the last open doors to the global spectacle in India and Sri Lanka next year.
Apart from hosts Oman, the competing teams are Nepal, UAE, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Japan, Malaysia, Kuwait and Samoa.
T20 World Cup 2026 Dreams On The Line For 9 Teams
Among the nine participating teams, six of them will be taking part in the 2025 Men’s T20 World Cup Asia-EAP Regional Final on the basis of their performance in four different sub-regional qualifiers from 2024. The teams are: Samoa, Kuwait, Malaysia, Japan, Qatar and UAE.
Meanwhile, teams like Nepal, Papua New Guinea and hosts Oman also participated in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA last year.
All nine teams will be split into three groups of three each at the 2025 Men’s T20 World Cup Asia-EAP Regional Final, with the top two sides from each group advancing into the Super Six stage of the competition in October.
The Group A features UAE, Malaysia and Qatar. Group B comprise of Nepal, Kuwait and Japan while the third group includes Papua New Guinea, Samoa and tournament hosts Oman.
The top three sides of the six-team Super Six stage will subsequently book tickets for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
While the Asia-EAP final will be organized in October, the 2026 T20 World Cup will be taking place between February and March next year. As many as 13 entrants have already locked their qualification through four different means.
