Former New Zealand skipper and current England Test coach Brendon McCullum showered accolades on Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their outstanding performances in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which saw them ending the tournament as the top two run-getters.

Speaking about the batting maverick Virat Kohli, McCullum conceded that the Delhi batter was always touted as a ‘future superstar’ since his early days as a cricketer and he has lived up to that reputation and hype.

Here’s what Brendon McCullum told ANI:

"Well, obviously Virat, I know him pretty well from my time at RCB and also playing against him. So look, he was always touted as a future superstar and he has lived up to, he has dealt with the hopes and the dreams of over a billion people and he has been able to perform on the big stage. He deserves every accolade that he gets.”

Brendon McCullum's next big challenge awaits in India, as England is scheduled to embark on a five-match Test series, commencing on January 25 next year, with the first Test taking place in Hyderabad.

Notably, England coach Brendon McCullum has instilled a fearless approach in England's Test cricket, dubbed 'Bazball.' It will be fascinating to see if they adhere to this style in the challenging spinning conditions of India.
