Indian head coach Rahul Dravid clarified that Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer missed out on the Afghanistan T20 series squad due to unavailability issues and not through any disciplinary action, as speculated by the media.

The cricket fraternity went into a frenzy when the BCCI announced the final squad for the three-game T20 series against Afghanistan starting tomorrow at Mohali.

Interestingly, wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer missed out due to undisclosed reasons. Thus, the media and fans speculate wild theories behind their omission.

Many speculated that Kishan has faced some disciplinary action as he was spotted partying in Dubai days after seeking a break due to mental fatigue. Kishan pleaded to be released from the Test squad against South Africa, citing mental fatigue triggered due to excessive travelling.

However, when BCCI caught wind of his alleged party in Dubai, the top brass was reportedly miffed and thus chose to open a disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, the media also speculated that Shreyas Iyer is on BCCI's radar for an alleged player code of conduct breach.

However, the Indian head coach deemed the media reports fake in his latest press conference. He said that Ishan Kishan had made himself unavailable for selection during the South African tour and has yet to update us on his future availability.

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer apparently missed out due to a lack of space in the batting department.

"Media reports are not true - Ishan Kishan asked for the rest, he hasn't made himself available and Shreyas Iyer missed out due to lots of batters in the mix - no disciplinary actions, these are fake," said Dravid via press conference.

Thus, Dravid seemingly confirmed that both the players missed out on the Afghanistan series squad due to unforeseen and tactical reasons. For that matter, the BCCI or the team management has not initiated a disciplinary investigation.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has returned to the grind as he was recently named in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad. However, at the same time, Ishan Kishan's whereabouts are still unknown. It's still unclear as to how long he wishes to extend his mental well-being break.
