In a dramatic turn of events leading up to the highly anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup, Indian opener Shubman Gill's availability remains shrouded in uncertainty. The young sensation was struck down by dengue, casting doubts over his participation in India's opening clash against Australia, scheduled for October 8th at Chennai's iconic Ma Chidambaram Stadium.

With Gill's health under the spotlight, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official statement, stating,

"He is under the weather. The medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hoping he gets better soon."

However, Indian cricket enthusiasts found a glimmer of hope in the words of none other than the Indian Coach, Rahul Dravid. Dravid, addressing the media, provided an update that left the cricketing world on tenterhooks.

"Gill is feeling better today; we will take the call later - he hasn't ruled out yet - we will see how he feels the day after tomorrow," he revealed, raising the possibility of Gill's miraculous comeback.

Gill has been the standout performer in ODIs this year, amassing a staggering 1230 runs at an astonishing average of 72.35 and a striking strike rate of 105.03. His recent form has been nothing short of remarkable, with two centuries and a half-century in his last four ODIs, including memorable performances against Sunday's formidable opponents, Australia.

India's opening clash against Australia on October 8th promises to be an exhilarating showdown at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium.
