Recently in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Gujarat Titans( GT) by 6 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium. After the recent thrashing, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has pointed at Hardik Pandya's migration from Gujarat as the main reason for the franchise's downfall.

Ahead of the ongoing season, Hardik Pandya was appointed the captain of Mumbai Indians and replaced five-time champions Rohit Sharma, this move by the franchise received widespread criticism. 

In 2022, the all-rounder was the captain of GT, under his astute leadership he guided Gujarat to their maiden IPL trophy. 

On the other hand, Shubman Gill was appointed the captain of GT ahead of IPL 2024, young talented cricketer is facing problems in his new role. The franchise is placed in 7th position after its defeat to Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. 


Hardik Pandya’s Absence Is Hurting Gujarat Titans This Season

Rishabh Pant-led franchise completely outplayed GT, and after the defeat Aakash Chopra opined that the presence of Hardik Pandya might have not benefited Mumbai Indians much but his absence has affected Gujarat Titans negatively. 

"Hardik Pandya’s presence might not have benefited Mumbai Indians yet…but his absence is definitely hurting Gujarat Titans this season!!! #IPL," Aakash Chopra wrote on his official 'X' handle.

Mumbai Indians have had a disappointing start in the IPL 2024, as the franchise is placed in the 9th position with four points. The franchise will play its next match against Punjab Kings on April 18, 2024.
