In a recent development, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is recovering well and will likely make his comeback from injury soon. According to a recent report, Pandya is currently at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

He is undergoing a rehabilitation program for the quadriceps injury he suffered during the T20 Asia Cup in the UAE earlier this year.

It is important to note that Pandya’s injury occurred during the Super-Four match against Sri Lanka. The star player was seen walking off the field and did not return for the remainder of the match. India went on to win the game, but Pandya’s injury ruled him out of the final against Pakistan. He is also not a part of India’s squad for the ongoing tour of Australia.

Hardik Pandya likely to return for South Africa series

The Times of India report quoted a BCCI official who provided an update on Hardik Pandya’s progress.  If reports are to be believed, it can be expected that Pandy will return for the upcoming South Africa series (ODI and T20I format). The first ODI of the much-awaited series will start on November 30, 2025.

“After a holiday break, Hardik reported to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on November 21. He will be at the CoE for a month. He has started his gym sessions and should be back in action during the white-ball series against South Africa at some point.”

It would not be wrong to say that Pandya’s absence was felt during the recently concluded ODI series against Australia. India struggled to find the right balance and had to compromise on bowling options to maintain batting depth. If Hardik is fit and is included in the squad for the SA series, it will provide the perfect balance that India has missed.

It is vital to note that India is currently in Australia, where they will play four more T20I matches before returning home for a multi-format series against South Africa.
