RR executed the highest-ever run chase in IPL's history against KKR today after Jos Butler's heroics led RR to a last-ball win. However, losing captain Shreyas Iyer was completely shocked to have ended up on the losing side despite a special performance from Sunil Narine.

IPL 2024 season delivered yet another crazy thriller as RR chased down 224 runs target with mere two wickets in hand.

Jos Butler stayed unfazed on one end and despite the fall of wickets, he fired towards the end to not only guide RR to a record win but also register his seventh IPL century.

That being said, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer was absolutely gutted and admitted that he didn't expect to lose today with that many runs on board.

“I would second on that. A tough pill to swallow. I really didn’t think we would get into this situation. It’s a funny game again. He was striking the ball well and he was playing on 60. It’s hard to digest but have to take it on the chin and move on," Iyer said.

Regardless, Iyer urged his bowlers to take this loss as a learning curve for the tournament ahead.

"Yeah at this point of time, you know that you have to bowl your best delivery. But it goes here and there and you get hit out of the park. It would be a great learning for them. I’m just hoping that we go back and come back stronger and execute in the next few games," he added.

Despite the tough loss, Iyer didn't forget to mention Sunil Narine's special all-round show and called him KKR's biggest asset.

Iyer also explained that since Jos Butler was striking extremely well in death, he took a gamble with spinner Varun Chakravarthy for the final over.

"(On giving Varun the last over) Since he (Buttler) was striking it clean, I thought lets take the pace off and ask him to use the power. When you have five fielders inside the circle, it’s tough," said KKR captain,

Nevertheless, Shreyas Iyer vowed to take positive learning from this game and kind of sink in the setbacks. With 2-3 off days coming up, KKR will rejuvenate and comeback stronger in the rest of the games.

RR have solidified their place at the top of the table with 12 points, whereas KKR are right behind with 8 points.
