'Ghode Ki Tarah Bhag Raha Hai..'- Bharat Arun's Message For Shami Before WC Semifinal

One of the key factors behind India's dominant run in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been the form of pacer Mohammed Shami. After missing initial matches, Shami displayed his class and form, claiming 16 wickets in five matches, including two five-wicket and one four-wicket haul.

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun, who played a crucial part in Shami's resurgence as a bowler during his tenure, has a message for the pacer ahead of India's semifinal clash against New Zealand today at Wankhede Stadium.

In his column for ESPNcricinfo, Arun recalled the time when Shami called himself a horse and how the pacer needed to continue running like one.

Here's what Arun wrote

"I remember Mohammed Shami saying once, 'I need to run in like a horse to be successful'. All this World Cup, Shami has been running in - galloping, you could say - fluently, with an amazing rhythm that complements his bowling skills."

"Fast bowling is all about a feeling inside that drives the bowler to run in with rhythm and confidence, which in turn enable him to pull off special feats. Shami is being driven by that feeling now. I haven't spoken to Shami this World Cup, but I can see him totally enjoying his bowling. The only message I have for him is: Shami, tu ekdum ghode ki tarah bhaag raha hain jiss tarah se tu bowling kar raha hai. Just go and enjoy yourself."

The 33-year-old pacer will be high on confidence heading into the New Zealand clashing, having already claimed a five-fer in the group stage against the same opponent.
