After an outstanding run at the ongoing Champions Trophy, Team India is all set to face New Zealand in the final showdown. With their red-hot form, they are high on confidence before stepping into the big match.

As Team India is shining with their excellence, captain Rohit Sharma's current form raises concern as he struggles to build his innings. Before stepping onto the big stage, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar urged the Indian captain to regain his form and confidence.

Gavaskar’s Valuable Advice For Rohit Sharma

In the ongoing Champions Trophy, Team India is having a dream run. After clearing the group stage, they defeated Australia in the semifinal and are set to face the Kiwis in the final match.

Meanwhile, skipper Rohit is under pressure, with just 104 runs in four matches. As the Indian captain is set to take the field in the final game, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has urged Rohit to stay longer in the middle.

“If he bats for even 25 overs, India will be around 180-200. Imagine if they have lost only a couple of wickets by then; just think what they could do. They could reach 350 or more.” Gavaskar said.

“He also needs to give it some thought. It’s one thing to go out and play aggressively, but there has to be a bit of discretion somewhere to give himself the chance to bat for 25-30 overs. If he does that, he takes the game away from the opposition. That kind of impact is match-winning,” he added.

Gavaskar Questions Rohit’s Current Approach

In the cricket world, Rohit Sharma is known for his attacking batting style. But in the ongoing tournament, Rohit Sharma struggled with his form even after having a good start.

He scored 20, 15, and 28 runs in the last three matches. Before stepping into the final clash, Sunil Gavaskar believes the captain can't be content with these modest contributions and urges him to step up and play more responsible innings.

“And I think, as a batter, are you happy with scoring 25-30 runs? You shouldn’t be! So that is what I would say to him: you impact on the team will be even greater if you bat for 25 overs instead of just seven, eight, or nine overs,” he said.

On March 9, the cricket world is set to see a high-voltage clash between India and New Zealand. Both sides are riding high on their confidence after their recent dominating performances. Dubai International Cricket Stadium is set to host an unmissable encounter.
