Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli’s on-field rift has long been a subject of chatter among Indian cricket fans. Their fiery exchange during IPL 2023 was one of the most talked-about moments in recent times, sparking speculation about tensions between the two Delhi-born cricketers.

However, in a refreshing change of tone, Gambhir put all those differences aside at the grand finale of the DPL 2025, where he pleasantly surprised everyone by giving Virat Kohli a cheerful tag in a fun segment.

Gambhir Plays 'Tag' Game To Name Legends

During the DPL finale, Gautam Gambhir took part in an engaging game where he had to assign playful titles to different cricketing personalities. When asked to pick what title Virat Kohli deserves, Gambhir did not hesitate to name Virat Kohli a “Desi Boy”, leaving fans delighted with his witty yet positive choice.

The game brought out Gambhir’s fun side as he handed out creative tags to several big names. He called Sachin Tendulkar “Clutch,” acknowledging his match-winning ability under pressure. Jasprit Bumrah was dubbed with “Speed,” while Nitesh Rana earned the “Golden Arm” title. Subman Gill, with his elegant stroke play, was tagged as the “Most Stylish” cricketer.

Among veterans, Rahul Dravid was hailed as “Mr. Consistent,” VVS Laxman as the “Run Machine,” and Zaheer Khan as the “Death Over Specialist.” For Rishabh Pant, Gambhir chose the title “Most Funny,” reflecting the keeper-batter’s cheerful personality on and off the field.

Now, with India gearing up for the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE from September 10, the timing of Gambhir’s gesture added extra excitement as the coach prepares ahead of India’s much-anticipated clash with Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai.
