India extended their perfect World Cup record against Pakistan to 12-0 with a commanding 88-run victory in Colombo, securing their second consecutive win of the tournament. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed delight with the crucial win but was quick to identify a major area of concern despite the comprehensive margin.

The triumph was set up by a competitive total of 247, powered by a late flourish from Richa Ghosh and a disciplined bowling effort led by young seamer Kranti Goud.

Harmanpreet acknowledges challenging pitch, sends message 'back home'

Reflecting on the hard-fought win, Harmanpreet Kaur provided insights into the tricky batting conditions and dedicated the victory to the fans back in India, acknowledging the significance of the contest and continuing the rivalry ignited by Suryakumar Yadav and Co.

"Very happy, very important game for all of us, and I'm sure everyone back home is happy as well. To be honest, it wasn't an easy pitch to bat. We just wanted to bat longer and see how many runs we can get. When we played here in the tri-series [in May], the pitches were different. But with the rain over the last two days, there was a bit of a 'hold' on the pitch. The key was to keep wickets in the end so that we could execute," Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation.

Captain flags fielding as key concern despite victory

While praising the win and the momentum it brings, Harmanpreet Kaur gave a candid assessment of the team's fielding, which included several dropped catches, as the primary area requiring urgent attention before their upcoming fixtures.

"We let ourselves down on the field, we got so many chances which we unfortunately dropped, but in the end, when you win, you feel happy. There are a lot of areas to work on, but right now I'm happy that we won this game. We just want to go with that momentum," Harmanpreet added.

"We go back to India now, where we know how the pitches will play. Let's see what the best combination is that we can come up with and how we can improve day by day," Harmanpreet added.

The win, built on key contributions from Pratika Rawal (31), Harleen Deol (46), and Jemimah Rodrigues (32) with the bat, and Kranti Goud's (3/20) fiery spell with the ball, sets India up positively before they face South Africa in their next encounter.
