Young wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel expressed deep gratitude towards Chennai Super Kings stand-in captain MS Dhoni following his unexpected IPL 2025 opportunity. Drafted as a late replacement, Patel made an instant impact, smashing his second ball in the league for six. Despite featuring in only three innings, Patel highlighted the learning experience above all.

Patel took to Instagram to thank the iconic skipper, writing a heartfelt and long note addressing MS Dhoni and the franchise too.

“Grateful for the incredible opportunity to play under the legendary leadership of MS Dhoni. Every moment with Thala — on and off the field — has been a masterclass in calmness, leadership, and humility. I’ve already learned so much, and I’m excited to keep growing under his guidance," wrote Urvil.

The 26-year-old arrived with a formidable domestic reputation, having topped the sixes chart (29 in six knocks) in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and holding the record for the joint-second-fastest T20 hundred.

Against Gujarat Titans, he showcased his aggressive power-hitting, contributing to CSK's joint-highest powerplay score (68/1) alongside Devon Conway, even taking on renowned spinners like Rashid Khan.

While his IPL sample size was small, experts noted his potential. Signifying his playtime and guidance under Dhoni, Urvil further noted his best times on and off the ground with the iconic wicket-keeper.

"From standing beside him in the dressing room to sharing the field during a match, every second has felt like a dream come true. What made it even more special was having my family there to experience it — moments we’ll never forget," Urvil added.

Nevertheless, though CSK signed off on an uncharacteristic note this year, with 1230 runs in 50 T20s at a blistering strike rate of 172.26, including two centuries, Urvil Patel has undoubtedly positioned himself as a powerful hitter to watch for IPL 2026.
