In a major development Rohit Sharma has withdrawn himself from the final match of the Indian tour of Australia 2024-25 Test series at SCG. As soon as the decision came out, speculations about Rohit's retirement has started among the Indian cricket fans. 

So, if this realises and Rohit announces retirement from all forms of international cricket immediately then how will India shape their Champions Trophy 2025 squad. In this article, we will analyse and try to predict India's probable squad for the upcoming ICC tournament. 

Jasprit Bumrah To Captain

Jasprit Bumrah has proven himself as a Test captain. He did a great job as a the leader of the team during the first Test of the BGT 2024-25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The positivity in Bumrah's leadership and how the team shaped up under him gave positive vibes to everyone. Hence, if Rohit Sharma retires and the post of ODI captaincy is left vacant, Bumrah can step up and fill in the shoes.

Shubman Gill To Take Up The Opening Spot Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal

In a short period of time, Yashasvi Jaiswal has established himself as a strong member at the top of the batting line-up in the T20Is and Test cricket. He is yet to make his debut in the ODIs but with Rohit Sharma out of the fray, Jaiswal will definitely be seen at the top of the order during the Champions Trophy 2025.

While Jaiswal will be one of the openers, Shubman Gill will retain his spot at the top of the order in ODIs. Gill and Jaiswal will also bring the left hand and right hand combination on the table and that will add dynamism to the batting line-up of the team. Besides, the batting style of these two young batters also compliment each other and as a result they could form a solid opening pair for India during the tournament.
