As the Indian Premier League (IPL) retention deadline nears, a significant trade took place involving Devdutt Padikkal and Avesh Khan. Padikkal was traded from the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), while Avesh Khan moved in the opposite direction, joining the Rajasthan Royals.

After being traded, Devdutt Padikkal expressed his gratitude to the Lucknow Super Giants management for the opportunity to join their team. He conveyed his excitement about playing under KL Rahul's leadership and mentioned his previous enjoyable experiences batting alongside him.

“Hi everyone, first of all, I would just like to thank the management at Lucknow Super Giants for giving me this opportunity to represent the franchise. I’m really looking forward to playing under KL and under his guidance. I have always enjoyed batting with him as well so I am looking forward to doing that again,” said Padikkal.



Padikkal also discussed his interaction with Justin Langer, LSG's coach, highlighting the Australian’s commitment and expressing his eagerness to learn from his extensive coaching experience. The southpaw further stated that he is looking forward to contributing to the team's success, which has been on an upward trajectory, and is eager to entertain the fans at the Ekana Stadium.

"I also had a chat with JL (Justin Langer) and I can tell that he is really committed I’m looking forward to learning a lot from him as he is such an experienced coach and he’s achieved a lot in his career as well. So, I’m really looking forward to joining this journey of the Lucknow Super Giants. Over the last couple of years, they have been really great, and they are already on the up so I'm looking forward to joining that and playing in front of the Ekana Stadium and really giving the fans something to cheer about. Cheers!” added the prodigious batter.

The 23-year-old Karnataka player, Padikkal, moved to LSG for his existing fee of Rs 7.75 crore. With 57 IPL matches to his name, Padikkal has amassed 1521 runs, including a century and nine half-centuries.

The talented batter joined the Rajasthan Royals in 2022, participating in 28 matches and scoring 637 runs. Padikkal made his IPL debut with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and has been a notable top-order batter. In his tenure with the Royals, he scored 376 runs in his first season and 261 in the second.
