'Dream Come True For Me' - Sai Sudharsan On Maiden India ODI Call-Up

Getting selected for Team India is a dream for any Indian cricketer, as for Sudharsan's household, it became a reality on Thursday evening when Sai Sudharsan earned his maiden One-Day International call-up.

Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Sudharsan was named in India's tour of South Africa, where the young batter will feature in ODIs and also play for India 'A'.  The 23-year-old expressed his delight while talking to Sportstar after his selection stating how it is a 'dream come true moment'. 

Here's what Sudharsan said

“It is a great feeling, and I am a bit lost for words. It is a dream come true for me, but at the same time, this is just the beginning, and there are many areas where I need to improve.”

Sudarshan excelled in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Gujarat Titans and also showcased his skills in the County Championship 2023 featuring for Surrey. The left-handed batter slammed 362 runs for Titans in IPL 2023, with three centuries, including a 96 in the final against Chennai Super Kings. 

Currently playing for TN in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, the batter said his focus remains on helping his stateside qualify for knockouts first. 

“But my first goal is to just focus on my match tomorrow (Friday) against Punjab and help the team qualify for the knockouts.”

India's South Africa tour kicks off with a three-T20I series, followed by as many ODIs and two Tests, starting December 10.
