'Doing It For Money': Danish Kaneria Slams Ramiz Raja For Commentating In India

Former Pakistan leg-spinner, Danish Kaneria, has taken issue with Ramiz Raja's decision to commentate at the upcoming World Cup 2023 in India, despite his earlier stance as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.

Danish Kaneria questions Ramiz Raja's World Cup commentary decision

While speaking in a video on his YouTube channel, Kaneria highlighted the inconsistency in Ramiz Raja's stance. He noted that during Ramiz's period as PCB chief, he had been quite assertive about Pakistan not visiting India for the ICC event, contingent on India's decision not to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. Given this context, Kaneria suggested that Ramiz should have declined the commentary role in India.

The erstwhile spinner further suggested that when someone takes a firm stance, it's essential to remain consistent. He stated that accepting a commentary position after making such strong claims reflected poorly on one's integrity.

"Ramiz Raja said Pakistan won't travel to India for the World Cup, but he himself is doing commentary in India for money. He had made some bold claims. I believe when you make such statements, you should stick to your words. It is a matter of self-respect. If he had said that Pakistan wouldn't go to India, he should have rejected the offer to do commentary. I didn't like this U-turn,” said Kaneria.

It is worth mentioning that Raja's tenure as PCB chairman was unexpectedly truncated after Pakistan's 0-3 Test series defeat to England at home in December 2022. Najam Sethi replaced Raja but his tenure also didn’t last long as he resigned post which Zaka Ashraf took over as the PCB chairman.
