Australia got off to an excellent start against Pakistan in their World Cup warm-up fixture against Pakistan on Tuesday (October 3), taking place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The Kangaroos, riding on David Warner and Mitchell Marsh’s cautious approach, did not lose a wicket after seven overs, having posted 32 runs on the board.

Mitchell Marsh's one audacious shot against Shaheen Afridi was the highlight of this period. The tall Australian all-rounder, during the fifth over of the innings, cleared his front leg after watching a fuller ball outside the off-stump coming and sent it straight down the ground for a maximum.

The timing from Marsh was so crisp and perfect that the ball sailed over the sightscreen to leave Shaheen embarrassed.

Meanwhile, Shadab Khan is captaining the Men in Green against Australia, as they decided to give Babar Azam a rest. However, it will be interesting to see whether Babar, the No. 1 ranked ODI batter in the world, comes to bat in the later half of the contest.

At the time of writing, David Warner is batting on 25* off 22 balls, while Marsh is on 14* off 27 deliveries. Australia, after 8.2 overs, have put on 42 runs on the board without losing any wicket.
