After Joe Root's infamous question on the legibility of the day-night Test in The Ashes, Cricket Australia's Executive General Manager of Events and Operations, Joel Morrison, confirmed that the fixture is set to crown Australia's Test calendar for the foreseeable future in their summer of cricket.

Joe Root, a couple of days back, raised a question mark over the benefit of having a pink-ball Test in The Ashes series, given the day-night element coming into play. However, Cricket Australia's stance clears any doubt about the validity of the contest.

CA official confirms day-night Tests are here to stay

Speaking at an official event, Joel Morrison lauded the plausibility of a day-night Test in The Ashes as he also tapped into the fans' perspective.

"We think for any home summer, including the Ashes, a day-night Test is a great thing. It makes it more accessible for fans, more people can attend, more people can watch," Morrison said.

Further, Morrison said that the day-night Test is a great element that works for Cricket Australia in the Summer of Cricket, hence it will continue despite what cricket purists say.

"We've seen some really great cricket under lights with the pink ball so we certainly see it continuing. We think the recipe of one day-night Test per home summer really works and we're definitely planning for that to continue," Morrison added.

The future of D/N Tests already sealed by CA

For the unaware, CA has already fixated on Melbourne to host a day-night Test against England in March 2027 to celebrate the MCG's 150-year anniversary of the first Test match ever. However, no day-night fixture has been on the cards for the summers beyond that.

Nevertheless, while the debate continues, England will be facing Australia for the Pink-Ball Test on December 4 at the Gabba, Brisbane, to try and level the five-match series, which is now being led by Australia 1-0.
