Legendary Australian opener David Warner has made himself available for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India on home soil. The swashbuckling southpaw bid farewell to Test cricket following Australia's triumphant home series against Pakistan earlier this year.

However, the left-handed batter has expressed his desire to make a comeback into the Australian Test side for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Speaking to Code Sports, Warner reckoned that he would love to don the baggy green if he receives a recall for the all-important affair.

"I am always available, just got to pick up the phone. I am always dead serious. Let's be honest, the guys have played one red-ball game since their last Test match in February, so I've also had the same preparation," Warner said.

The talismanic batter also revealed that he would seriously consider featuring in the Sheffield Shield if the Australian think-tank includes him in the Test plans.

"Honestly, if they need me for the series, I am more than happy to play the next Shield game and go out there and play. I retired for the right reasons, but my hand is up if they desperately need someone. I am not going to shy away from that," he added.

David Warner's Illustrious Test Career

After making his debut, David Warner soon established himself as a vital cog in the Australian Test side. In 112 Test matches, the left-handed batter amassed 8786 runs, including 26 centuries and 37 fifties, helping his side script numerous memorable wins in the purest format. However, his age and a prolonged rough patch forced him to hang up his boots as he announced his Test retirement after the Pakistan series.
