The recently concluded ICC World Cup 2023 in India, spanning from October 5 to November 19, not only showcased exhilarating matches but also spotlighted the off-field charisma of former Indian all-rounder and cricket expert, Irfan Pathan. His dance celebrations post Afghanistan's victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka became an instant internet sensation.

Irfan Pathan took a sassy jibe at Pakistan

Pathan, who has been a commentator for four years, covered his first home ICC event, bringing his insights to television and social media. The highlight came during a post-match show where Pathan celebrated Afghanistan's win over Pakistan with a dance alongside Rashid Khan and his teammates. He repeated his lively performance after Afghanistan's win over Sri Lanka, joined by Harbhajan Singh.

While Indian fans relished Pathan's dance moves, they sparked a controversy in Pakistan. Addressing the situation, Pathan playfully hinted at Pakistan's disapproval through a post on Twitter.

"Dance Mera hota tha or KAAPE TAANGTI thi padosiyo ki #ifyouknowyouknow," wrote Pathan. With this statement, which loosely translates to "It was my dance that made the neighbours tremble," Pathan has taken a cheeky jibe at India’s arch-rivals Pakistan.

Meanwhile, ahead of the India versus Australia World Cup 2023 final, Pathan joined the Legends League Cricket. He showcased his undiminished cricketing skills in Ranchi, hammering an unbeaten 65 off just 19 balls, leading the Bhilwara Kings to victory.

As for the World Cup, Australia emerged victorious for the sixth time, chasing down India's target of 241 in 43 overs. The Australian batting was bolstered by Travis Head's remarkable century. Despite India's early breakthroughs, their inability to leverage the momentum led to their defeat.

Looking forward, the cricketing action continues with a five-match T20I series between the two teams, scheduled from November 23 to December 3. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the Indian side in this upcoming series.
